Game > Film ???
With 3 huge game titles set for film release in 2012/13, the question I ask is......
Is it right to take some of our best loved game characters and storylines and have some film boffin make them into a best selling movie?
Lara Croft says yes.
Final Fantasy sadly says a big fat no.
Halo. CoD. Dead Space.
Due out 2012/13 TBA. What is your opinion?
Personally, I think they could all work. If done well with astonishing attention to detail.
CoD could easily be any old modern/past war film unless given that twisted sprinkle
of humour and hard gritty story. Halo has the potential to tell an amazing story.
Dead Space- Move over alien vs predator, there's a new boy in town.
I'm still not 100% convinced.
But there's time yet.
Lots of love from Lysia xxx

I want Sam Worthington to be the main guy in Halo, or Christian Bale. They play awesome bad asses! Call of Duty could be any old war movie to be honest, as you've said, it wouldn't be impressive.

The war movies I can think of, Thin Red Line, Saving Private Ryan, Flags of our Fathers, all had something else going on. Saving Private Ryan was about going to rescue the one guy, and the other 3 are more about the effects of war on people as opposed to war itself. Call of Duty is just gonna be about fighting, and that'll be boring

Don't they already have something for Dead Space?
Also, there have been rumors for years on something for Halo, but I highly doubt there really is ever going to be.
And for CoD, that'd just be another war movie, and they have plenty of those. I doubt anyone would really want in on that.

There's 2 animated movies for dead space, but those don't count.

well yea, but this topic is talking about live action adaptations of the games, not animated tie-ins

Ohhh ok, I never saw the Dead Space movies, no idea what the movies are about.

Many of the movies i've watched that are based on video games were not very good but there were some decent films out there.
For example the Resident Evil films, in my opinion the first two films were very well down but when they continued to make sequels such as the latest one "Resident Evil Afterlife" I felt like i was watching a cheesy action-packed thriller instead of a well sequenced film based on the actual story of the RE series. In a brief summary, the series went from great to complete crap.
Call of duty could deffinitely become a movie.
I think they could go a long way with Halo films, the background story of the game is just incredible.
Each of these games can be produced in to a best selling film easily but it depends on what approach film producers take.

i think halo could be another move that goes on for a long time sorta how starwars is still around. halo would be a great movie franchise.
