    minecraft.net

login, go to profile, then download the skin template. put it in microsoft paint, edit the skin to look how you want, then upload it under the profile section. there's a reference thing on minecraftwiki.net under "skins" that tells you what part of the template does what. Then, upload it on minecraft.net under profile

You realize that is pixel by pixel right? >.> The only difference is you can see it on a model as you make it.

Miners Need Cool Shoes | Skin Editor

This is the best website I have seen for getting Minecraft skins. You can make one yourself, look through all of the skins already made, and they have an extremely easy system for uploading them to your account.

I tried it out and it seems kinda cool, the model is definitely useful.

MS Paint doesn't retain transparency so that wouldn't be a very good idea :P

It says right on the site to download the reference skin and edit it in something like paint...it certainly works for me

Says 'image editor', but you're right, the main part of the skin will work but the accessory portions require transparency. Still not as big a difference as I thought.
