Gamers Forum Rules - Updated 9/19/2010
Forum Rules and guidelines
All the forum rules must be followed by all members and all forum staff. Disobeying will result in warnings and/or infractions. Too many infractions will result in a ban. Below are a set of rules to follow followed by the list of warnings and infractions you could receive.
- We want to make your experience here at Gamers Forum a pleasure so that you will come back. So please do unto others you would have others do unto you. That means be nice, respectful, and peaceful. It’s that simple.
- Make your posts worthwhile. We have a minimum 10 character limit; try to fill them up with something useful and worth reading. Anything less looks spammy on your end. After all, you would want to enter threads and posts worth reading.
- We don’t mind short posts such as the ones stating you agree with someone, but always try to fill something in so people know exactly what you’re agreeing with. Posts like “that’s cool” will also be tolerated to a degree. If it seems to us that you are just posting short messages just to get your post count up whether it is to get to 10 posts to spam or to get GFP for any reason, we will infract you for these posts and delete them.
- We attract many spammers from all around the world so we have a few rules about links:
- Don’t post links before you have 10 legitimate posts and have been a member on our forum for at least 24 hours.
- You also do not have permission to post images before you have 10 posts and have been a member for 24 hours.
- These rules are enforced to keep spam out of the lives of our regular members and if you are a new member falling into this category, it isn’t anything personal; we have to implement this due to the enormous amount of spam that we get.
- Having a signature, avatar, and being able to edit some parts of your profile should be seen as a privilege rather than something you should automatically have access to. Once again, in order to have access to this, you need a minimum of 10 posts and you have to have been registered for a minimum of 24 hours for your account to get access. Once again, this rule has been implemented to decrease and deter the amount of spam that we get.
- Signature rules:
- No More than THREE (3) images and No More Than THREE (3) Links in your sig, Including User Bars. Staff and special Member groups are exempt of this rule.
- No Illegal Content or Links in your sig. No defamatory content allowed.
- Image width should not exceed 600 Pixels and height should not exceed 300 pixels.
- New users with less than 10 posts who have not been a member of this forum for at least 24 hours may not send out Private Message. If you have issues with the website and you need to get a hold of the forum staff, please use the Contact Us link on the bottom right side of the forum to send us an email. You may also click the following link to be forwarded to the contact page: Gamers Forum - Contact Us
- If you believe that someone is disobeying any of the rules -- including staff -- please PM a staff member or click "report to moderator" in the postbit. For more info on reporting a post please visit: How to report a post - Gamers Forum
- In order to avoid further infractions and warnings, please read the following thread that highlights what infractions are, what kind of infractions that we have and how you can avoid getting one. Infraction points are associated with bans so in order to remain on the forum, make sure you stay clean. Read the following thread: Infractions Updated - Read to Understand - Gamers Forum
- Have fun!
Gamers Forum IRC
Gamers Forum also provides a free IRC channel for all of our members. This is where you can come in and chat with other members of the forum live. Since it is a live environment, we do have separate rules in there that you also must follow if you plan on coming by:
- Excessive spamming will mostly be handled by SpamServ, but in some cases, a channel operator may step in and put a stop to the spam. This could mean a kick or a ban from the channel.
- No links to offensive or pornographic sites or content in the open channel. If you must link to these, sites, do it in a private message. This will also result in a kick or a ban from the channel.
- Disagreements happen sometimes, but don't let them get out of control. If you need someone to mediate, ask a channel operator to step in or be the bigger man/woman and put an end to it. Don't act like little kids.
- Direct and excessive abuse of someone won't be tolerated.
- The chat in IRC tends to be very varied, but there are some topics that might be deemed as inflammatory - if you are asked to move on from a subject then do so.
- If you believe an Op has treated you unfairly or that you're receiving hassle from someone on IRC then either get in contact with an OP or Linux, whichever is appropriate. The channel isn't the place for your issue to be dealt with, and could lead to more problems. If contacting Linux, Please take a screenshot of the portion of the chat. Copy/paste can be altered and will not be accepted as proof.
- We don't mind some vulgar language in the channel but keep all offensive language out of the channel. Please note that there is a big difference between vulgarity and offensive.
- Harassment of other members in the channel will result in a permanent ban from the channel.
- Use the channel for fun conversations, not to start pointless arguments.
- Have fun
Further Information:
Once again the rules are here to make your stay on Gamers Forum a pleasure. We want you to be able to enjoy yourself here. If you have any questions at all about the rules, please feel free to ask here or make your own thread in the questions/suggestions board highlighting the issue.
We are happy to have you as a part of Gamers Forum and we thank you for following our rules.
Please note that the rules are subject to change at any time for any reason. The rules in this post will be updated and a post will be made highlighting the changes.

5 infraction points equal to a 14 day ban, you also get demoted from our staff position if you have any. For infraction related info, view the infraction thread here: Infractions Updated - Read to Understand - Gamers Forum

Well, it's just weird, because I have over 10 posts and I still can't access anything on my User CP.

Gotta wait 24 hours too. You just joined yesterday, though I'm not sure at what time. You'll have full CP access by tomorrow for sure.

I suppose that must be it, but I could've sworn the 24 hours was over by now, but I'm probably wrong. I just know I joined sometime in the afternoon yesterday so if I can't access it by tomorrow, I'll let someone know.
Thank you.

Yeah, if you're still restricted tomorrow don't be afraid to contact a mod.

Account upgrades only occur a few times a day. Even if you reach the 24 hour period, there is no guarantee that you'll instantly have access. Since, these upgrades are done every few hours, depending on when you joined and when you've reached your 10th post, you might have to wait an extra few hours.
If you don't have access 48 hours after joining, just shoot me a pm.
